watercolor landscape

Hi guys ! 

its been a while since i posted any Paintings 

here is a rather old one but i really enjoyed doing this :) 

its all in my fav medium 

Watercolors !!

somthing that was for the Last few pages of my Sketchbook for the sketchbook 

project , 

So here u go !

i 1st hand drew the landscape on the moleskin paper 

(of the sketchbook, yes the paper is a lil tricky but i loved every bit of it ! )

 and then let my artistic hands do the talkin :D 

 Can u see the shadow ?? 

scrapbooking - spring

This is another One from my sketchbook .... 

 another best out of waste project. 

This one also went into my Sketchbook for The Sketchbook project, Brooklyn USA.

i love spring ... n somehow this one is my fav (Which makes me miss it more)

anyway , I used a few techniques here (rem best out of waste!) 

This one contains a few border stamps and Hat man Stamp. 

The flower is made of a cream colored Handmade paper that is very fabric like, (Again left out of other project , don't u just love it when something u saved for years is used in some other project?)

i dabbed the flower with some red ink (Sketch pens are an option too)

The Leaves , butterfly , Bird  and other flowers are made of Cardstock and newspaper scraps glued on top , and then colored with watercolor for the desired effect .

Buttons & Stones for further embellishment. 

thats about it :) 

Rise from the fall

This piece is the Centre spread of my sketchbook that i made for the Sketchbook project.

 The basic inspiration here is Rising from the past , 

to a Beautiful brighter present ... 

Past it not supposed to be forgotten 

hence taking a part of the past with us forward ... we rise and flourish. 

The tree on the left is getting Old and perishing 

but the tree on the right has the bark and the roots of the Older tree

 (sort of not forgetting where it came from)... 

Point is .... never forget who u were ... before u celebrate who u are now!

On the Left side ,I used a news paper and painted it with orange , vermillion and cadmium yellow in watercolor to create the desired effect....

then cut out a tree's pattern with falling leaves & pasted a Glitter paper @ the back, (used a cutter ... little time consuming but effective) 

then used washi paper, golden lace & Feng shui coins for embellishment. 

On the right I painted the dolly paper into a bright green and yellow, (Yes its messy)

added the Bark of the previous tree (Very delicate work ... phew!)

and lots of diff buttons and stick on's for embellishment.

Japanese dolls- 2 (With sleeves)

This one is for all those who loved my Japanese paper doll tutorial earlier !

Here are another type of Japanese dolls , 

Its got sleeves and innovative hairstyles. 

I kept the sleeves to a half length

 but lot of other crafters use even longer sleeves than these

and believe me it sure looks g8.

I also added Some high umbrella like Collars , to make them look like Queens :) :) 

PS: Notice the hair :) its all pulled in the front with a bun on top.

This one's made with washi paper

don't u just love making these ? 

its pretty addictive :)

Sketchbook Dispatched !

I jus dispatched my sketchbook for the Sketchbook project 2011 ..... 

Oh i hate to say this but i already miss it too much !! 

The separation anxiety is huge and unless it reaches fine ..... 

i will be Moody :D (Laughing out loud) 

Here is a sneak peek - of my finished Sketchbook

 

I Hand printed a Red handmade sheet for the cover. The Dream big Painting (Smaller version) was Stitched on to the cover... made a window at the back to display the bar code  and stitched buttons on both sides to create a Ribbon wrap round lock.

All my fav stuff goes in there !

over the sky

Sketchbook project 2011 - creation - in 5 mins

Here is something i did in 5 mins ....

Well u can say ...that m taking my theme way too literally :D

he he ..... but cant help it! its the art that's imp ! :)

i love it when simple ideas make things so beautiful !

this piece is all about HOPE !

I had a nice lil brainstorming , Gyaan giving- philosophical talk yesterday with a friend ... that got me thinking about how imp HOPE is ..... it keeps u going , if hope dries .... there is nothing left to a person ....

Upon that I remembered this amazing Quote

"sometimes we're so focused on finding our happy ending we don't learn how to read the signs. And maybe a happy ending doesn't include a guy, maybe... it's you, on your own, picking up the pieces and starting over, freeing yourself up for something better in the future. Maybe the happy ending is... just... moving on. Or maybe the happy ending is this, knowing after all the unreturned phone calls, broken-hearts, through the blunders and misread signals, through all the pain and embarrassment you never gave up HOPE"

Indian paper dolls - Sarigami

I name this One "SARIGAMI" - which means "Origami of Sari" .

Sari is the National Costume of India. and I love it !

Its 9 yards of fabric that's Draped in a certain manner ...

it looks very sensuous n flattering if worn correctly !

I googled the term "Indian paper dolls"

n i was surprised to see very bad representation of the Indian sari. 

nevermind!!

 i am proud to present to u ... Modern India's paper dolls

Take a good look !



Indian paper doll - In Sari



I used my fav, 3 layered patterned tissue papers for this sari ,
because its most essential to use a "fabric like" or "Soft foldable paper" to give a realistic look to the sari as it involves lots of pleats. 
The "WASHI" paper can also be used to make these dolls.
All this is wrapped around a hand made body silhouette ,
Material used to make the body is thin Cardboard.

Paper Dress - Vintage

This vintage dress is made of thin cardboard Base.

Over which i collaged some magazine papers ,

then I glued some Chinese lace paper coasters at the neckline and  the waist line.

After which i stitched the Whole outline of the whole dress.

Then i used Laces and roses and buttons to give the finished look ! :)

Before the beginning- mosaic

Before the beginning - watercolors on moleskin paper {10" X 8.5"}

I sat down to do sumthing in 5 mins .... and ended up doing this !

abstract does come handy lot of times :)

This one was Made in over 10 mins :) with Water colors

in my moleskin sketchbook !

I used up both the sides to do this one.

The Sketchbook Project - Moleskin Test

The more i imagine, the more .... i fall in love with art ...

n sketchbook project is jus another chance to explore my Doodling side !

I tried On some Tests on my Sketchbook ....

With Water colors and a Fluid ink Black Pen .... :)

the very easily available ,

Reynolds trimax pen in Black , & Camel artists water color cakes.

(PS: If u didnt already know! Moleskin is So thin to work on, it really required some testing ! )

Verdict : Camel Artists' Watercolor cakes  Worked Well , didnt leave much of an imprint behind the paper ... but left a lil bit of Puckering around the edges , U cant Use too much water if u Like doing tht .. while painting ! Plus U have to be Quick ... while painting.

The Reynolds trimax pen in Black  was really superb to my surprise !  it dint leave much of an imprint on the backside of the page Plus it comes in 4 diff colors - Black , Red , Blue, Green !

kinda Superb ! and its got a good grip :)
